Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Budget Buddy (the "Service"), operated by Arnold Muyanja, an individual seller based in Kampala, Uganda ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account, checking the agreement box at signup, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

Budget Buddy helps marketing and digital agencies find wasted software spend. You upload a bank or card statement (CSV), and the Service scans it for recurring subscriptions, duplicate charges, and price increases, and estimates potential savings. Budget Buddy also offers a free trial audit that does not require an account. Budget Buddy is a software tool, not a licensed financial advisor, accountant, or auditor, and any findings, estimates, or AI-generated suggestions are for informational purposes only — you're responsible for verifying them before cancelling or changing any subscription.

2. Your data — what happens to your CSV

We know a bank or card statement is sensitive, so here's exactly how it's handled:

• In transit: the connection between your browser and Budget Buddy is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS), same as your bank's website.
• At rest: if you create an account, your transactions are stored in our database on Render's managed hosting infrastructure, which encrypts stored data. We never see or store your full card or bank account number — that never touches Budget Buddy, since checkout happens with our payment processor.
• Free trial audits: if you use the no-signup trial, your file is processed only in memory for that one request to show you results. It is never written to our database and isn't kept after your results are shown.
• Who sees it: your transaction data is used only to generate the audit and dashboard for your own account. We do not sell it, rent it, or share it with third parties for their marketing or any other unrelated purpose.
• AI features: if you use an AI-powered feature (like Ask AI), a summary of your account's financial figures is sent to our third-party AI provider (OpenAI and/or Google) solely to generate that response. Under those providers' standard API terms, this data is not used to train their models. We do not send your AI conversations to advertisers.

You can request deletion of your account and its stored data at any time by contacting us (see Section 10).

3. Accounts

You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account.

4. Subscriptions and billing

Paid plans are billed on a recurring monthly basis. Card payments are processed by Flutterwave, our third-party payment processor; we also accept manual bank transfer via Sendwave, which is verified and applied to your account by us. Prices are listed on our Pricing page. You may cancel your subscription at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.

5. Refunds

Refund requests are handled according to our Refund Policy.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Service, including attempting to access other users' data, reverse-engineer the Service, upload data you don't have the right to upload, or use it for any unlawful purpose.

7. Disclaimer

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Detected subscriptions, savings estimates, and AI-generated suggestions are based on pattern-matching against your uploaded data and may be incomplete or inaccurate. They are not professional financial, tax, accounting, or legal advice, and should not be the sole basis for a business decision.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including decisions made based on the Service's findings.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
